The Best Texas Toast

For every dinner, my Texas toast is an incredible dish. Toast bakes to golden, crispy perfection in only 20 minutes, with thick, buttery slices and a perfect combination of garlic and herbs. Your family will beg for seconds every time, and you’ll enjoy how simple it is to make!

The finest aspect? This dish is easy to make and has a great taste. Everyone will be begging for more because of its rich, garlicky flavor and crisp texture, whether you serve it over their preferred pasta or on its own. After giving it a try, you won’t ever want to eat ordinary bread again!

Ingredients You’ll Need

White bread (thick-cut, about 1 inch thick): Texas Toast white bread, thick-cut to approximately one inch thick, was what I used. Sourdough or French bread are excellent substitutes.

Softened unsalted butter: Allow it to come to room temperature so you can easily combine it with the other ingredients. You may alternatively use margarine or a dairy-free butter alternative.

Garlic (minced): Add as much or as little minced garlic as desired. Garlic powder works well in place of fresh garlic, though I still prefer fresh.

Fresh parsley (finely chopped): Finely chopped fresh parsley gives it a flavorful, herbal touch. A decent substitute is dried parsley.

Dried oregano: Dried oregano adds a hint of earthiness and scent. You may use Italian seasoning instead.

salt : All the other tastes are enhanced by salt. Adapt to your personal preferences.

Parmesan cheese (grated): Grated Parmesan cheese gives food a flavorful, umami boost. Pecorino Romano or Asiago also work nicely.

How To Make Texas Toast

Preheat The Oven

Set your oven’s temperature to 375°F (190°C) first. To make cleaning easier, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare The Garlic Butter

Combine the melted butter, dried oregano, chopped parsley, minced garlic, and a tiny amount of salt in a small bowl and stir until thoroughly blended. If using Parmesan cheese, stir in half of the cheese and set aside the other half for the topping.

Butter The Bread And Toast

Next, cover one side of each slice of bread with a large quantity of the garlic-butter mixture. Sprinkle the reserved Parmesan cheese over the greased pieces. Arrange the greased slices on the baking sheet that has been prepared, buttered side up. Bake for approximately ten minutes in a preheated oven, or until the edges are crispy and golden brown.

Broil the toast for a further one to two minutes for more crunch and a golden top, but keep an eye on it to avoid burning. After taking the Texas Toast out of the oven, add some additional chopped parsley for color, and serve it hot.

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • salt to taste
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese grated

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

  • Place the buttered slices, buttered side up, on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
